Before & After

Who Can Use Gynecomastia
Gynecomastia is usually caused by an imbalance in the level of sex hormones.
Estrogen controls female characteristics, such as breast growth, while testosterone controls male characteristics, such as muscle mass and body hair. That being said, men produce a small amount of estrogen, and women a low amount of testosterone. High estrogen levels or unbalanced testosterone levels in men cause gynecomastia.
Gynecomastia occurs naturally at different times in a man's life. These periods are as follows:
-
After birth: Newborns are always under the influence of estrogen their mother gave them while they were developing in the womb. However, gynecomastia goes away within two weeks of birth.
-
At puberty: Hormone levels change during puberty. Enlarged breasts often go away six months to two years after the onset of puberty.
-
Mid-life and beyond: Breast enlargement is common in men between the ages of 50 and 80. About one in four of men in this age group have enlarged breasts.
Many other conditions causing gynecomastia are obesity, lack of adequate nutrition, tumors in the testes or adrenal glands, and liver disease. However, some medications, such as diazepam, spironolactone, and anabolic steroids, can also cause gynecomastia.
Before the Gynecomastia
To prepare for gynecomastia surgery, patients may be asked to have lab tests or medical evaluation, take certain medications, or adjust current medications.
The doctor may ask the patient to avoid taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs, and herbal supplements as they can increase bleeding.

During the Gynecomastia

In the first two levels of gynecomastia, excess tissue is removed by liposuction. At the third level of ailment, liposuction is also used to remove excess fat. At the same time, the excess skin can be removed depending on the sagging breast.
In the fourth level of gynecomastia, an operation similar to breast reduction surgery is performed. The breast reduction procedure is done by performing an inverted letter T. Through this method, you can achieve a firm breast after removing excess tissue and sagging skin.
After the Gynecomastia
During the recovery period, dressings or bandages will be applied to the incisions to reduce swelling and support the new breast contour.
Patients will be informed of specific instructions for taking care of the operating area, such as taking medication or possible follow-up with the cosmetic surgeon.
The final results of gynecomastia surgery are permanent in many cases.
